Grog in the grocery store

Every now and then when shopping for groceries, I get lost in thoughts and then snap back suddenly when I come across the alcohol isle; it still strikes me as odd that grocery stores sell alcohol.

Until the 30th of January 2012, alcohol sales were prohibited across many American states on Sundays - the Lord's day - yet every state has always sold alcohol in grocery stores and discount department stores like Walmart and Target.  Americans love convenience!  And what's more convenient than grabbing a mid-range chardonnay with all of the ingredients to go with tonights' Alfredo pasta dinner in one place?

*side note: Australians' call alcohol "grog" among other things...
